Graduated Ternopil State Medical Institute in 1984. During 1984-1986 was a student of Clinical Residency at the Department of Infectious Diseases of Ternopil State Medical Institute . During 1986-1989 was a postgraduate student of the same Department. From 1989 through 1994 worked as a teaching assistant of Department of Infectious Diseases of Ternopil State Medical Institute.

Since 1994 has been employed in Sumy State University as a teaching assistant, associate professor of Department of Infectious Diseases, head of the Department of Infectious Diseases. His thesis theme for obtaining a degree of Doctor of Medicine was “Clinical-Epidemiological and Pathogenic Characteristics of Shigellosis and Optimization of Remedial Measures”. He is an author of more than 490 scientific papers including 1 monograph, 1 reference book, 20 text-books approved by Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine and Ministry of Science, Education, Youth and Sport of Ukraine, a number of methodical recommendations, 6 certificates of authorship on invention and patent, etc. He carries out a great organizational-methodical work in the hospital, institute and regional medical and preventive treatment facilities. He permanently introduces the new treatment methods into medical care process.

For several times Mykola D. Chemych submitted proposals regarding the improvement of organization and upgrading of specialized medical aid level for the population for consideration of administration of Regional Department of Public Health. He took the lead and directly developed and now still proceeds with introducing program “Anti-hepatitis’. He is a head of Association of Infectious Disease Physicians of Sumy Region. He is involved in organizing regional and All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences dedicated to topical issues of infectology. He was awarded with Certificates of Honor granted by Association of Infectious Disease Physicians of Ukraine and Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine, Letters of Thanks granted by Sumy Regional State Administration.

Mykola D. Chemych and Andriy O. Snitsar together with the staff of Clinic Infectious Hospital named after Z. Y. Krasovitskiy created a Museum of Infectious Service established on the initiative and active participation of professor Z. Y. Krasovitskiy.
