Teaching the course "Infectious diseases and epidemiology" begins in the 4th year after studying the basic disciplines.

It provides for the formation of knowledge and skills, the acquisition of practical skills that provide clinical diagnosis of the most common infectious diseases, quarantine infections, rational use of laboratory and instrumental methods of examination of patients, the appointment of adequate etiotropic and pathogenetic treatment, emergency care, as well as primary anti-epidemic measures.

The goal is set on the basis of the educational and professional training program for a doctor in the specialty in accordance with the block of its content module and is the basis for building the content of the discipline. The goals (final and specific) are formulated in terms of "professional activity" taking into account the relevant taxonomic levels.

 

The ultimate goals of the discipline:

Ability to think abstractly, analyze and synthesize information when working with common infectious diseases

Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and subject activities when working with infectious patients and during anti-epidemic measures.

Ability to identify the main clinical symptoms that form a characteristic syndrome for the most common infectious diseases.

Ability to interpret the patterns and features of the pathological and epidemiological process in various infectious diseases

Ability to make a preliminary clinical diagnosis, plan preventive and quarantine measures for the most common and especially dangerous diseases

Ability to carry out clinical and laboratory differential diagnosis of various infectious diseases and infectious diseases with non-infectious diseases

Ability to demonstrate the ability to maintain medical records in the clinic of infectious diseases in the state language

Ability to demonstrate awareness of infectious diseases as weapons of mass destruction, to know about the use of information and communication technologies if necessary.

Be able to search, process and interpret the results of specific examination methods in the presence of combined pathology - infectious and non-infectious

To be able to adapt actions in diagnosing emergency conditions and providing assistance at the pre-hospital stage, to be able to work in a team and separately in the provision of emergency medical care.
